I Won’t Forget a Pan on the Stove Now – My husband didn’t think we needed an alarm for our cooking area. Then I told him about the neighbor who twice forgot she had something cooking on the stove and seriously smelled up her house when the pan burned dry and it ruined the pan too.

I am not confident in this device. – This was ordered for a TBI patient who is still competent to cook but forgets he is cooking and walks away from the stove.

Does not work – I held a pan with robust flames and smoke beneath it and it did nothing.

A Good Product for Monitoring Stovetops – I found this product helpful for monitoring stovetops. It was easy to install under my exhaust fan hood. If one doesn’t have such a hood, perhaps it could be installed on a wall near the stove, though the directions don’t mention this location, and I don’t know if would be effective in that position. The first time the alert sounded, it was a gentle beep. I was searing a steak on the stovetop, and had the flame up fairly high, which was producing some smoke. While I was over by the refrigerator about 8 feet from the stove, the sensor gently beeped, and I went over and pressed the button to let the sensor know someone was monitoring the situation. If I hadn’t pressed that button, probably a louder and more shrill sounding alarm. If I had been in another room, I may not have heard the gentle warning beep, though I probably would have heard it if the louder alarm kicked in. It pays to be ready, like having a fire extinguisher in the kitchen should a fire ever start. But preventing a fire is even better. This product, if properly used, could help prevent such fires from starting.

Seems to work as expected! – First off this was much smaller than I anticipated, which Im glad of. (It looked really big, but it isn’t). It was super easy to set up. The instructions are fairly clear, but I didn’t quite get that there is a base panel that sticks to the vent hood, and the unit attaches to it magnetically. That makes it easier to change the button battery when needed. Be sure you are putting it where you want it because once you stick it, it’s stuck! Also be sure you put it in a location that is easy to reach to touch the button to shut off the beeping. So far it’s only beeped a couple of times when I’ve had a hot burner and taken a pan off of it, which is what it’s supposed to do. Since I work for a forensic engineering firm, I’m very aware of how many fires start on the stove. I sleep a little better at night now 🙂

Not as described. – It was to have a solar sensor to keep the battery charged. The one that shipped did not include this.

Works wonderfully – I don’t review stuff often but thought this deserved one. I Purchased this for my mother to help monitor my father with dementia as a stopgap for further measures to be put in place, it has already paid off… the very evening we installed it he placed the glass coffee pot on the stove and turned it on high. the alarm went off before the plastic handle melted or anything bad happened and they were able to remove the coffee pot and turn off the heat with no damage done.

This is a useful tool that brings peace of mind – The idea is huge, I hope it works as intended. It installs easily enough and my stove shorted out one night and turned on, to the point I had to get under it and yank the wires apart. It was scary. So when I saw this I thought, this is exactly what would bring me peace of mind if that ever occurred again. So, I am using it. I’m not entirely sure how or if it will work, and if I ever have an experience where I think it should have, or it does indeed work, I will update my review accordingly. The concept is bigger than people think tho.
