Ice Melts – UGH! – I love Sonic ice so I purchased this to have ice at home. Setting the machine up was confusing and a real pain. After several hours trying to get it to clean itself (sanitize for initial setup,) we just about gave up. The instructions are not clear. Instead, we relied on someone’s unboxing review to get it working. Once working, the nuggets started to slowly pop out but the ice immediately began melting. We discovered that regardless of how costly this machine is, it doesn’t keep the ice frozen/cold. So, BUYER BEWARE…if you don’t stand in front of this thing as ice comes out to place it in your glass, it melts. What a disappointment!

Won’t Go Back to Regular Ice – Best nugget ice you can get from your countertop. Reverse osmosis water keeps the descaling and loud noises to a minimum, however you still need to flush out and clean the system from time to time. Watch the you tube videos on why you need to clean the system. It is horrific.

Makes great nugget ice – We saw this ice maker a year ago and really wanted to buy it. But didn’t want to spend that much. Here we are a year later and decided to do it. It’s pretty heavy but pretty easy set up. Instructions are simple enough. We filled the tank and reservoir but it was not pulling water from the tank. We realized that we had the tank on the left side and it was forcing the B tube up a little and the water could not drain. So we switched it to the right and it’s working perfectly. It makes ice quickly. The tiny ice nuggets drop into the drawer. With quiet little plunks. It makes a quiet hum sound. Not bothersome at all. It makes ice as soon as you take scoops out. So it’s always full for us. For a family of 4 it’s the perfect amount and then some. We haven’t hooked it to Wi-Fi yet. Just haven’t needed that feature. Nor have we cleaned it yet. We use purified water from the RO system. It has alight feature with 3 settings. A nice scoop and drip tray that we keep the scoop on. We are very very happy with the purchase. It’s very pricey but we really like it

Very nice ice Maker, My family loved it. – Set up is easy. Ice maker should be near a sink. I can not imagine having it without the extra tank. We fill the tank at least once a day for a family of 4. (Get the tank!) I had to try about 10 times to get WIFi App to sink up. We shut the ice maker off at 9pm and it still has ice in when we turn it at 6am. We have an open floor plan so it is a little louder than I had hoped but I feel like you just get used to it. A few days after use it said I need to descale it even though we have a water softener. GE said to unplug it let it rest. The Error went a way. I did purchase the extended warranty. Lots of good ytube videos on how to open it up and clean the inside. Will update this review in a few month. The ice is perfect and makes drink cold fast with little foam. Not hard to chew and is helping me get more daily water intake. The drip tray is my only complaint so far. When you open the ice drawer it drips so you need a paper towel.

Nice product – I have been using the Opal 2 for about a week now, and really like the machine. I decided to get this product mainly because it makes chewable ice, it can run on a schedule that you set with your phone, and I got tired of fixing the ice maker in my fridge. At first I was concerned that I might need to run it 24/7 due to ice melting, but in that quantity I have come to see ice in the machine over 8 hours after it was turned off (most was melted). But since this product reuses the melted water for next time I can get away with scheduling the machine to turn off at 8PM and still have ice waiting if I get up in the middle of the night.
