Doesn’t work on bare floors at all – I purchased one of this type of sweepers for each floor of my house. The other sweeper is a Bissell (purchased at a local big box store). The Bissell has several different brushes on the bottom and you can push and pull it across the floor. The Ewbank cost almost double the Bissell, has one brush, and you can’t pull it back easily at all. It does pick up cat hair from my low wool area rugs. You have to push it forward and then practically pick it up to do another spot. The Bissell does about the same, but is far easier to push and pull. Neither one of them pick up anything from my wood floors at all. They push any dirt or crumbs ahead of them. You’d be far better off with a broom and dust-pan on bare floors. But, if you want to pick up crumbs or cat hair from carpets, this sweeper works pretty well (except for the issue with the rear wheels). Overall, I was really disappointed with this purchase. This item appears more cheaply made than the Bissell, which was half the cost. I assumed by the price that it would be of a heavier-duty quality.

Works great & lasts forever – I’ve had my Ewbank carpet sweeper for 12 years now and put it thru its paces w cat litter , hair , a toddler , and more and it has continued to perform wonderfully all of these years. Worth the money for sure

Works very well – I have a cat who tracks cat litter onto the carpet but hates the vacuum cleaner…as does my husband! A few years back, I bought a Swiffer Carpet Flick that came with disposable sticky-cards to sweep up tracked litter between vacuumings. It wasn’t terribly effective but was OK for touch-ups. Well, Swiffer stopped making the refills and now vendors are charging ridiculously high prices for them. So for the same price as a box of 12 Carpet Flick refills, I bought this. Wow! What an improvement! Forget the Swiffer gadget…the Ewbank works almost as well as the vacuum cleaner. I didn’t buy it for tile floors, but I tried it in the bathroom and it did just fine! Emptying the compartments is not a big deal.

Good Quality – Like this product very much…but on carpeting it’ takes a little more effort to push. But all in all its great.

I’m very happy with this sweeper! – This is a very good sweeper. I bought the Bissell Natural Sweep Dual Brush Sweeper first and returned it because the handle kept falling off and it was noisy. The Ewbank sweeper has a secure handle, is quiet, and does a better job. It doesn’t replace my electric vacuum but it does cut down the number of times I need to use the vacuum cleaner. I used to have to vacuum daily but now I use the sweeper every day and the electric vacuum once a week. I prefer it over the vacuum because it’s lightweight and quiet so I can use it while others in my home are asleep.

Great for getting under furniture and Touch-Ups – I only use this for “touch-ups” and getting under low furniture when I’m not up to moving it. I’ve used lots of Bissell carpet sweepers, a battery operated Swivel something or another, and even a Fuller Brush one years ago. This one picks up decently for being a carpet sweeper. It is louder than any of the others I’ve had, but nowhere near as loud as a vacuum. It is harder to push than any of the others I’ve used; however, the handle seems to be sturdier than the Bissell ones. I did not purchase this to replace a vacuum cleaner and I don’t think it was ever meant to replace a vacuum. We do have pets and it picks up lots of animal hair. It’s quick and easy to grab and go for little touch-ups. I’m hoping it gets easier to push as I use it, but since I just use it for tidying up small spot messes and getting under furniture, I can live with it whether it does or not. At any rate, the price is right.
