Fit perfect, a bit noisy – The previous owners of the house had a trash compactor among the cabinets. After living here for almost 4 years and never using it we wanted to reclaim that space. Having two little kids, this beverage refrigerator was the perfect choice. It freed up a bunch of space in the normal fridge by relocating all the individual bottles into here. Since that includes beer and alcoholic spritzers the ability to lock it is crucial. It wins out over wine coolers because it has a better temperature range and you can adjust the shelves for your needs. The only thing I can complain about is that it is louder than our full size refrigerator but we have an expensive quiet one so it might not be a fair comparison.

Decent fridge. Insulation maybe could be a little better. – Just got this a couple of days ago. Setup in my 18″ shop shelves was a breeze. The fridge ran quite a bit. I investigated a little with a scanning thermometer and saw that the sides were consistently 1-2 degrees cooler than the surrounding air. It turns out that the box the fridge ships with has large pieces of 1.5″ styrofoam in it, so I packed those down the sides to increase the insulation of the fridge. To my surprise, that seems to have helped, with the fridge running less frequently and for shorter periods with the same room temperature. So I suspect in their quest to get the most usable room in the smallest form factor, they skimped some on insulation. When I get the time I’ll compare the top’s temperature with the ambient and insulate that if it’s lower. Of course the main heat intrusion will be through the glass door, and there’s not much to be done there.
