Loud – Much louder than reviews indicated, we had to go to a metal manufacturer to add a flute extension which was very pricey! Once it was all installed I was extremely disappointed with the noice level!

Not 900 CFM, Still Really Nice – This was purchased after our old hood vent motor threw a bearing and ate itself. Installation was incredibly easy. The included exhaust ducting was designed by a true genius. Each end of the very long exhaust duct that’s included has a rigid collar built inside it that PERFECTLY fits a standard 6 inch exhaust duct vent. I’ve never installed flexible ducting without an hour of swearing and no less than 5 stitches before in my life. Installing the flex duct was a 2 minute job.

Missing parts and assembly instructions could use some improvement. – The is missing an oil cup and its mounting brackets. Oil collected from the motor/fan cage will just drip down and through the filters/baffles onto your food while cooking. Reading other reviews, I finally understood why some reviewers complained about the plastic exhaust flaps falling into the hood. The instructions are not clear. There are 4 holes on the inside of the duct, and the flap has tabs that need to be flexed so that the tabs can be inserted into the holes. I have written to seller and manufacturer and hope I can get the oil cup/mounting brackets as I like to give this unit the higher rating it deserves. Over the years, I have exclusively bought the Cavaliere brand. Though they came with some issues, in the past, they were very good in providing support for missing or defective parts. I hope this has not changed…..will update review if I can get the support. Note the motor type has changed in the design and though the control panel looks the same, noticed the controller has been updated…probably due to the different motor design. They contacted me very quickly and sent me the missing parts. I update again if the parts are complete…Up another star.

Smoke Free Cooking with the CAVALIERE 30″ Range Hool – While working on the remodel for our kitchen we insisted on a hood that could suck the hair off of my head! Sick of the smoke alarm going off when cooking something as simple as a hamburger I couldn’t wait to install a new hood over our new Thermador range so I could cook like Gordon Ramsey. We shopped for hoods with a minimum of 900CFMs in a price that we could afford and the Cavaliere fit the bill. This range hood performs so well. It is strong and quiet. I can sear steak with butter and see no visible smoke. The smoke detector has not gone off since this hood has been installed.

I like it, would buy it again. – Almost a year into ownership. Works very well, love that the vent grates are dishwasher safe. Note, they are rather large and may not fit in all dishwashers unless you lay them flat. I can wash one at a time with a regular load of dishes. Like some other reviews, I find the very bright blue front indicator LEDs slightly obnoxious. The white LED down lights it comes with are a little on the dim side, but easily upgraded with better bulbs. The “dim” function is almost useless, too dim. The timer shut off feature of the fan is nice, you can leave it running and walk away from the stove. The filter clean timer (keeps track of hours run to remind you to clean then) resets every time the power goes out, so if you live in an area prone to power issues it’s kind useless. All in all I’d buy it again.
