Worked great! – Not sure what else to put here other than it worked as advertised 🙂

I always suspected that a fuse had probably gone bad because heaters do use significant electrical power to operate – The heater portion of my Broan Nutone bathroom fan/light/heater stopped working in fewer than 6 months after the unit was installed and i had gone without the heater for a few years. I always suspected that a fuse had probably gone bad because heaters do use significant electrical power to operate. After deciding to see if i could rectify the problem, i checked YouTube to see if there was a video of fixing the heater. I did find a couple of videos and, after watching, decided i could handle the repair myself. I also read the reviews here on Amazon and saw that heaters for my unit were a huge problem, burning out frequently – with the assertion being made that the soldered fuse (which was castigated for being soldered rather than easily replaced by most people – which would make repair easy and far less costly) was set to fail when the temperature exceeded a certain threshold – something that seemed to occur frequently, especially if the heater was left on too long. Knowing that i like warm bathrooms for taking shower, i bought a 3-pack of replacement heaters in case they stop being made. Once my replacement heater arrived, i finished taking out the old heater unit and replacing it with this new one. Voila!! I now have heat. The work of replacing the heater was not entirely simple but not bad. I am not a really mechanical person but have made a few repairs in my time and the few problems i encountered with this repair were not too difficult to figure out how to proceed. I now not only have heat but also have a clean unit because i took the time to clean everything while making the repair. Having made the repair successfully and having 2 spares will hopefully make sure i have heat in the bathroom for a long time, especially if i don’t leave the heat on for long periods of time.

Heater works again – Love my bath fan/heater but this element needs replaced every 3 years

Broan-NuTone S97016565 Heating Element – My original heating element the thermal fuse blew open because I let it clog up with dust I believe. Bought one of these on Amazon. I cleaned out the heater motor and cover vents completely. New element thermal fuse blew open after around 3 weeks. I noticed the way the thermal fuse is positioned on the heater. It is installed with rivets. You cannot solder in a new one because the soldering iron gets too hot and blows open the thermal fuse. The fuse is riveted to the inside of the wafer on one side and its wire comes straight to the fuse. The other end is riveted to the outer side of the wafer and is bent with a radius that I think is too large of a radius. What I did was, using a small needle nose Pliers I slightly bent the wire with the big radius bend and bent it down moving the thermal fuse slightly away from the heating element as shown in my picture. I’ve worked with these kind of devices for years and just that little movement may be the answer to longer life. Just a 1/16th” further away from the heating element is my fix. So far so good.

Easy to replace, but … – So we’re on the third replacement with ever shorter times between repairs. The heating element seems correct and genuine, and it’s not the wire that burns out. In all case did the 110C thermal fuse trip. It’s not resettable and the fuse alone is difficult to replace.

Easier to replace than you may think and a lot cheaper than a whole new unit – My Broan-Nutone bath exhaust fan/light/night light/heater has been in service for about 6 years or so. The heater stopped heating. At first I thought I would have to call someone to fix it or replace it. The two screws that hold the cover are behind the cover for the light/nightlight. Once the cover is removed the heater and associated fan are one unit held in place with two nuts that upon removal will allow the fan/heater to swing out from notches on the overall housing. The fan housing has a couple of ears on it that need to slide into the slots when reinstalling the fan/heater unit. on the exit of the fan is the space in which the heater coils are inserted. They are held in place with two screws on each side of housing. Once the screws are removed and the retaining plate on the opposite side the heater coils can be removed and replaced. The wiring is all plug-ins. the whole heater/fan module plug into a receptacle on the overall housing and the heater plugs into a sub receptacle on the wiring to the fan. Once I saw how everything came out, putting everything back together including replacing the heating coils took maybe 15-20 minutes.
