Honestly, what is UP with this thing?! – Bought this for my kitchen remodel, based on reviews of its LOOKS. I know people complained about the noise level of the exhaust fan, but I figured they were just being whiny. Nope. This thing is a.) ridiculously loud and b.) ridiculously powerful. I have never had a kitchen vent fan cause a huge breeze through an open window when on, LOL. This thing really moves the air. But at a cost. And that cost, my friends, is noise; the vent hood has 3 levels of fan: low (so low and so quiet I wonder if its even doing anything). Then #2 – medium. Which is like extra high on any other vent hood. It is so strangely designed that the low setting is so super low, I am not sure the fan blades are even moving, to medium, which sounds like a Boeing 787 just landed in your kitchen. Oh, setting #3 – high, you ask? It sounds like 3 Warthog fighter jets are taking off continuously. I have NO idea how this thing passed quality control at the Broan HQ. Is the QC tester hearing impaired?! Also, whatever brainiac designed the different power levels of the vent fan need a serious MMSE. Either it was a practical joke by an engineer that submitted the design on their last day with Broan, or someone has a chip on their shoulder about their past vent hoods not being quiet enough on setting 1 (low), or powerful enough on 2 & 3 (medium & high), because this thing is going to have you scratching your head too. Which wont have any dandruff on it because the suction from the vent hood will have already removed it for you. The brand we replaced (GE) was actually perfectly proportioned it its fan speeds. Broan could learn a thing or two from GE. Anyways, tl;dr – It looks nice, price is nice, but has serious serious design flaws.

Great item – Love this product. However, the noise level is either super quiet/as if not on, level 1. Level 2 is a bit loud and Level 3 is WAY TOO LOUD.

Definitely a budget friendly choice – The steel is thin and flexible. It can easily be twisted by pushing on a side. A thicker gauge would definitely be better. The fan is extremely quiet on low and very loud on high. At medium speed I feel it is a little to loud, but acceptable. However the fan motor seems out of balance and reverberates through the wall which is very annoying due to the location of the fan in our home. I used a self adhering sound deadening mat on the inside of the fan housing, which greatly reduce the noise level, but probably voided any kind of warranty. Definitely not top of the line, but still nice on a budget.

A couple things stood out to me. – 36-inch. Packaged very well, no damage. Very nice finish on the stainless steel. I installed it quickly with no difficulty. I mounted the hood 28-inches above the stove.
