Bissell Sweep-up Cordless Sweeper – This Bissell Sweep-Up is a very good tool for cleaning short-pile carpets and rugs when you don’t want to bother getting out a large vacuum cleaner. The sweep-up is especially good at getting under furniture without having to move the furniture out of the way. It is excellent for cleaning small rugs where a vacuum cleaner would lift the edge of the rug to tangle in the vacuum head. It is also excellent for rugs that have tasselled edges since it straightens out the tassels without damage. The downside to these sweep-ups are that long hair gets tangled in brushes requireing time and some difficulty to clean the brushes for optimum operation. I deducted a star for this in my review. The performance on hardwood floors is not the best so use a dust mop on them to keep them the cleanest. Performance on long pile carpets or rugs (shag carpet or deep pile) is also problematic since the depth of the pile interferes with the brush rotation and it is difficult to push making the pickup of dirt not really possible. Cleaning the sweep-up trays and brushes is also best accomplished with a vacuum cleaner so you will not be able to eliminate the need for a vacuum cleaner if that was your intent.

Works well but handle needs work. – Handle is short and kind of flimsy…and I’m only 5 feet. The sweeper itself, however works really well. Great for when you have a small mess or just don’t feel like dragging out the vacuum.

Changed my mind – Not Happy With This Product – I hate vacuuming – the hassle and the noise. The noise for me is like fingers on a chalkboard. So I was hoping to get something that I could use in between vacuuming to pick up stuff, something lightweight that did not require me to stoop or carry around a broom and dust pan. I wanted it to work on bare floors and low pile rugs. I wanted it to pick up dog hair. I also wanted it to be light weight and durable. I was not looking for a vacuum but basically a more ergonomic broom. I am on the fence whether or not this fits the bill. It is light. Very light. It came with no instructions – not that it needed any, super easy to assemble and pretty quick trial and error to empty it (screw each metal piece into each other, screw it into the bar, and push the plastic piece onto the only metal piece that does not have a threaded end). To empty – turn over and push to open. It may take a try or two but it is not difficult. It is very small but not flat enough to get under my lowest pieces of furniture. I will stick with the swifter to do that. Durability? Hmm. My hopes are not high it is plastic pieces and very thin metal. I will need to check in a few months. I tested the LR, DR, K and long entrance hallway first; the flooring in these areas is large porcelain tile. There are puffs of dog hair 3 days after vacuuming. The sweeper did nothing. Well it did push the hairballs down the hallway so that I could collect them in one place but when I opened the reservoir there wasn’t enough dust to make me sneeze. There was some hair tangled in the brushes but apparently nothing was pulled up into the reservoir. At that moment I was going to start packing the thing and return it. I thought for a moment if there were any surfaces that it would work on. We have very few area rugs in our house and most of them have a decent pile too thick for this tool. There are a few exceptions: an inside outside rug in our DR, our bath mats, the mats at our doors, and the anti-fatigue mats in the kitchen. I worked on the indoor/outdoor mat first. Wow – it really picked up dust and other stuff. I tried it on the entrance mats and the bath mats. Terrific job. I tried it on the mats in the kitchen – two of which have fabric like top and one has a rubber top. It was great on the fabric like top but did nothing on the rubber one. Finally I thought that I would try it on the living room area rug that has about a 3/4″ pile. The thing really filled up with dog hair and dust. Also note that the brushes on the bottom were not filled with lots of crap. I was able to empty the dust and dog hair in the garbage without it flying all over the place, my back did not hurt, and my ears did not ring. So despite its shortcomings I am keeping it. I wish that it was priced lower because the parts (but for the brushes) feel like its worth about $2 dollars and the brushes might be worth $1.50. But for now I may be able to keep some of the dog hair down and feel like the rugs are a little cleaner.

Picks Up Dirt and Animal Hair Like a Boss – We bought this sweeper to use on our area rugs because our vacuum will not roll over them – maybe due to their patterns. The sweeper came in a very small box, with its handle in sections. Assembling the sweeper was more difficult than it should have been, but we got it done.

YOU GET WHAT U PAY FOR – It’s about 3.5 ft tall so it’s small but it’s light which is ok. For the price it does what it’s suppose to. I use it everyday, it’s good for a quick pick up, and not having to grab the vacuum is great for me, saves me time. Not upset about the purchase but if you want something better you should look further for a more pricey one.
