Best Ice Maker I’ve had. – I love this ice maker. It’s easy to use, not noisy to me, considering that the ice has to be moved once it’s made, into the basket, so it can make more, that should be expected. The flavor is great, and I’ve read a lot of reviews of people saying you can’t freeze it, because it melts and sticks together, I’ve found that if you use COLD WATER out of the fridge, it makes ice faster, if you let it cycle 4-5 times and start putting it in a baggie with the sides folded down, so the air can get to it, it WILL freeze hard. I don’t have a problem with it breaking into a bunch of little pieces, or sticking all together, because by the time I let it cycle 4-5 times again, the first ice in the freezer is frozen hard, and I shake the bag as I’m emptying the 2 in so it helps with the 2nd batch freezing faster. Then, I rotate the bag a couple of times open it back up, so air can get to it to harden it up, and it’s great. I eat a lot of ice. I’m anemic so I *crave* ice. I LOVED Sonic ice, went through a bag in 1½-2 days. I like mine better. Especially when I’m not making ice to have in the freezer for bringing with me when I go somewhere, and the basket is full, and it stops making it because it needs emptied… And it’s kinda melted, and *chewy* yeah, that sounds weird to say, but it’s that texture that I like. 🙂

No insulation. Easy to overflow onto the counter. – There is no water line and if you add water to the ice maker, without checking the level first, unlike other models, the water can flow out the sides, below the edge of the ice bucket.

Great made product. – I almost purchased a clearance item ice maker from another company. Only because the price seemed to good to pass up. The reviews on the clearance ice maker made me realize why it was on clearance. My search was on for a good long lasting ice maker. The Antarctic Star is the one I chose over reviewing at least 10 others on the market. What sold me on the product was the quiet feature and the type of materials used to make it. It’s internals was supposedly protected from overheating and smells that maybe placed into the ice making process. I took it out of the packaging, it is well protected with the styrofoam sidings. Cleaned it, added water and about eight to nine minutes later, my first batch of ice was made. I did a taste taste. It had no bad smells or after taste within the ice. I kept the ice maker running until I was able to fill my freezer ice container. It was a hot day so I decided to enjoy suckling on some ice as the day went by. I purchased this ice maker because my RV does not have an automatic ice maker and to put water in ice trays and wait for trays of water to freeze would take a long time. I took a seven day RV outing last November and I can’t believe I waited so long to purchase one of these ice makers. This Antarctic ice maker works wonders on my bedroom drink bar. Imagine making cool mouthwatering drinks in your own space without having to go into the kitchen fridge for ice.
