Great Wall Cap – Have had this wall cap installed for several months now without any issues. I also painted it to match the color of the siding. Occaisionally if the wind is strong enough it will rattle around the damper which you can hear inside (my duct run goes directly out the wall so very short). I do understand some people have put a little foam rubber around the perimeter to reduce the noise but it does not bother me at all.

Not a spring-loaded damper, but good if you don’t need it – I called AirKing customer service and they confirmed that there is no spring in this vent. It seems well made with heavy gauge metal, but I could see a problem with wind making that noise like other reviewers mentioned. I guess you can put some foam weatherstripping or equivalent to stop the noise if you experience any. I also ordered the Broan-Nutone 641. I will edit this review once I get it to compare the two.

Best Product when you need 10″ duct – I needed 10″ duct and Wall Cap with 10″ round connection when we install 60″ Broan Hood in our new home. I searched everywhere and contacted all local HVAC supply houses. The issue was they wanted over $100.00 on there caps and there design which had no build it gate which closes the pipe when it is not in use.

This was an Amazon Warehouse deal. I was a … – This was an Amazon Warehouse deal. I was a little leery about buying an item that had been returned, but I thought the new ones were a bit overpriced. The vent was packaged very well with no signs of damage. The vent was however slightly bent on the back where it mounts to the wall. A couple of taps with a rubber hammer and you could never tell where it was formerly bent.

Looks good and is functional – I recently finished building my new home and I wasn’t happy with the cheap plastic vent cover that was installed. So, I searched around and found this one for a great price. It was easy to install and looks much better than what was there originally. I have heard the cover open and close with the wind a couple times – but only when wind gusts get up around 70 MPH (and I can’t really fault it for that). Other than that, it works perfectly. I have a 1,200 CFM blower connected to this with a 16 foot vent run that reduces from 10″ to 8″ then to 6″ along the way (which is the maximum reduction allowed by the blower specs). I haven’t had any trouble with this wall cap – it opens whenever the blower is on and closes when the blower turns off. I recommend this wall cap – it’s a good price for a 6″ cap and it looks nice and has a low profile.

Not totally as advertised… – First and foremost; It’s insanely loud. No matter if you have a low power system and it’s slapping so loud it sounds like a spoons player out of rhythm. If you have a high power system the baffle makes a tink, tink, tink, tink, tink, sound over an over without end. I wanted to remove the baffle door but I’m also thrifty. So I bought silicone sealant for outdoor use. I first sealed the 8 inch hole and then used the silicone to make a gasket on the inside and outside of the baffle door. Now it makes no noise and is actually sealed if the power cuts or something.

Good Value for the money – More expensive models have springs which often malfunction NO spring needed I place a magnet on the lower edge of the flapper. The weight of the magnet keeps flapper shut when fan is off Well made

Effective vent – minor rattle in high winds – The wall vent is easy to install and allows great air flow. It is connected to a new Samsung Microwave and provides much more airflow than a powerful hair dryer. It is hard to find these 6 inch vents now that home construction has slowed. None of the majors or local hardware stores carry this type anymore. The flap closes when the vent fan is off and keeps out flying insects.
